This plan make Institute for Physical Planning of Primorsko-Goranska county. This is an example of good practice of spatial plan in protected natural area in National park category.

INNOVATIVE, DEMONSTRATIVE APPROACH – ADDED VALUE

This plan including rural area and supports and enables the development of rural and green tourism in natural park zone.

IMPLEMENTATION EXPERIENCE

This Spatial plan is used daily since 2001. According to him, issued building license it is a coherent with management plan and Program for protection, conservation and maintenance of the Risnjak National Park forests.

DECISION PROCESS/REASONS

Following the proposal of one of the most famous Croatian scientists, the botanist PhD Ivo Horvat, on 15th September 1953 the government of the Republic of Croatia legislated a Law about the forest of Risnjak becoming the National park, with an overall surface area of 3014 hectares. In 1997 the Park’s area was extended to the surface area of 6400 hectares and includes the Snježnik mountain massif as well as the hydrogeomorfological natural monument – the Kupa River spring and its upper flow.

PARTICIPATION AND CONFLICT SITUATIONS

After the public hearing and its correction in accordance with accepted observations, offered solutions, provided an acceptable way of using space to its protection (forestry).

Institute for Physical Planning of Primorsko-Goranska county is engaged in developing regional spatial plans.
