Institute of the Republic of Slovenia as a lead partner and 10% project partner Vojvodinašume have presented the NATREG project and JSIMPA with its stakeholders engagement guidelines at the 12th International Symposium on Legal Aspects of European Forest Sustainable Development - IUFRO Division 6: Social, Economic, Information and Policy Sciences (Research Group 6.13.00: Forest Law and Environmental Legislation) which was at the end of May 2010 on Cyprus.
At the Symposium Gregor Danev (NATREG project manager) presented the participation processes in Serbia and Slovenia during the protected areas designation and preparation of protected areas management plans.
Serbia and Slovenia with its pilot sites Pohorje and Deliblato sands were chosen as a casa studies because of their different situations. Pohorje is mainly privately owned and has a lot of stakeholders, sectoral activities, etc. On the other hand Delibato sands are almost all in state ownership and under management of Vojvodinašume. But still both pilot sites have similar problems (sustainable management, biodiversity protection, stakeholder’s engagement) and issues that we would like to address trough the NATREG project.
For the proceedings of the Symposium the IRSNC and ŠUME will prepare an article.
